I’ve got to stop posting so early in the morning! It makes me look pathetic and crazy because I have to work tomorrow. At least you know the truth…
As I mentioned on Monday, I was not very happy at the start of this week. Nearly two hours before I wrote that post I found out that I was “fired” from my position at my school job via email. I was very unhappy because I was not let in on the decision and told nearly a month late. Everyone told me that I was not told right away because Doc did not want to “ruin my summer” and knew I wouldn’t take it well. I would have been fine had I been told before the others on staff – then it would have been more of a situation where everyone agreed with the decision. I lost the right to step down, I guess, and that hurt my pride. My friends agree with me on that matter. It shouldn’t have happened the way it did. So, when we get back to school we’re going to say it was a group decision. It’s not lying! My friends defended me when they talked with Doc PLUS I agree with the decision, even though it was dealt with poorly.
Still, I was more upset because someone found out (that shouldn’t have) before me. Monday night I got to talk to Andrew (the person that took my place) and he helped me feel better about the whole situation and explained what happened. Anyway, long story short, I still have my job but I am no longer in charge because I get “so stressed out” during the school year. I say whatever to stress. >:| <–face, haha
HAPPIER TOPIC!
I got to work a ton this week! Wait… that’s not happy… Well, yes it is. I get money for working AND I get to experience lunch time at day care tomorrow – woot! The bad part is that most of my day is spent working and I have little morning free time. Welcome to the real world, I guess, haha.
Another thing that happened this week is that my friend, Casey, went to my favorite summer place EVER: LSM (Lutheran Summer Music – there’s a link on my personal blog). It’s a month long music camp and you are surrounded by other nerds and it’s a wonderful time. I miss it pretty bad. This is my second year of not going. Last year was much worse – I was a weepy mess the whole weekend before it started. This time I only teared up once and it was a happy memory. So, I am very happy that she is having a good time but very sad I cannot be there. I am seriously thinking of applying to be a counselor or intern there next summer. I wanted to this summer but my parents held me back for various reasons. I wish they hadn’t and I wish I had the guts to go for it. Next summer I will be more independent. I will pay for a plane ticket if I must (and that might be the easiest/cheapest bet, lol).
Money is so annoying. I wish we could still barter and trade. I would be like,
“Hey, flute man – if you cut the price of that new flute I want in half I will give you the reduced price plus my two old flutes, my guitar, my piano AND my trombone for it.”
“Sure, Megan! Nice trade! I’ve always wanted a beat up trombone with a leak!”
Except… it wouldn’t be a nice trade. I would be paying and giving much less than the actual price. But his love for that crusty trombone would be worth so much more to him… If only. This would also work for paying for college, food, anything you want. I try not to be too materialistic but I REALLY want a new flute. No joke. The one I have now is… oh gosh, it’s almost seven years old. :( It’s clanky and… I want a new SHINY flute!
- What was your best or worst family vacation ever? Why?
My best BIG family vacation ever was when my entire family (around 20 people) went to Branson, MO (it doesn’t get more exciting than that…) and stayed for a long weekend. That was with my entire paternal side.
With just my parents and I, I suppose it would be Disney World when I was seven (in… 1995?) We stayed at the awesome Disney All-Star resort and the housekeepers organized my stuffed animals on my bed and it made me really happy – I left them a note. But we got to go to Blizzard Beach and I got sick from the water but it was still a lot of fun. Good times with my parents… - What is your favorite glue and why?
I thought about it and I decided GLUE STICK is my favorite glue. Versatile - used for construction paper, cards, letters, etc… And it dries clear!
Here’s my video!!! It includes two challenges, questions, and Ian’s challenge for me…
You can all decide if my second go at Ian’s challenge counts or not. I think it should. ;)
aaaaaand sorry about the glare on my glasses – I didn’t feel like changing into contacts!
Uhm…. I’m not typing out the Would You Rathers so try and pay attention!!!
I’ll see you all on SUNDAY when I cover for Katie (who is in the UK…So lucky…)
LOVES!

PS: When we get to school I have a horrible feeling it will be harder to find time to video edit. It would be like, theory homework OR video editing… hmm… I wonder which would win?
Good morning! (Yes, Maggie, I said I was going to post at 10:30 but I got excited and buckled, haha!) My title quote comes from The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. As taken from Wikipedia (good ‘ol Wiki), I quote:
In The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams, the character Arthur Dent says “This must be Thursday. I never could get the hang of Thursdays”. A few minutes later the planet Earth is destroyed. Thor, for whom the day was named, also appears later in the Hitchhiker’s series and in other Adams books. Appropriately, in The Long Dark Tea-time of the Soul, one of the characters says to Thor: “I’m not used to spending the evening with someone who’s got a whole day named after them”.
Now, my freshmen year art teacher started reading this book to my art club after school while we worked on projects (like this one:
). I don’t know how far we got and I don’t remember much except for his fake accents and funny hair. We did not finish either. I do not expect to finish. This is not the book I will be reading for your challenge, Katie.
As many of you know, I will be reading TWILIGHT. I will NOT get sucked in. I have someone I can borrow the book from but I might as well buy it, right? Then I can bend the corners and leave it in my purse to get mashed around… But that’s that. I will think about it.
Monday night I went beading with my mom at one of our church choir friend’s house. (Go here for some pictures of my jewelry!) Anyway, I looked in the mirror to see how something looked and I noticed something HORRIFYING. My hair was no longer blonde. I seriously had a mental breakdown. I knew it had been getting darker and I have always known it would become darker but the time came where I actually noticed. I got sort of upset and threw a tiny tantrum. I also texted six of my friends with this message: I’m not blonde anymore!!! I just realized it! It’s a dirty, ugly color…
Just so you know, I am not usually this concerned about my hair. I love my hair! I think it was the light… It is really a dirty blonde. I’m considering dying/hi-lighting my hair (blonde or other color) so suggestions would be nice (not that I will for sure use your suggestions – I will think about them, though!)
Here are my answers to your quesitons!
If you were to be any movie, what would you be and why?
- My movie would be The Holiday. Specifically the character Iris. This is for numerous reasons. Unrequited love, lots of crying, emotional person, befriending old people… Oh, and Jack Black. His character is wonderful, funny and a musician (this is a theme with me, haha). If I were the type of person to have a celebrity crush, he would be my celebrity crush. :)
Have you ever had a bad roommate? If so tell stories, if not tell why you think you and your roommate have worked out.
- I… thought that I had a bad roommate but a year apart has only made us stronger! My friend Nicole and I met at the freshmen camp in the summer before we started school. We decided that we had a lot in common and we decided to be roommates. The year started off great but we soon started to get on each other’s nerves. I wasn’t used to keeping my thoughts to myself and that annoyed her and she had some habits that bugged me too. This year we were just neighbors on our floor. We missed each other and when it came time to choose roommates again we decided to give it another shot. We’ve since worked our our difficulties and we both know how to deal with each other after two years of friendship. I’ll let you know how it goes!
What is your favorite book?
- Oh gosh. I’m trying to think of the last time I was completely enamored with a book… Thinking hard… I think it would have to be the Harry Potter series. :( I read voraciously (oh ho ho, a big word!) every time I got one of those books. I only got to experience three book releases, though, so the one I read the most hungrily was Order of the Phoenix (plus I don’t like six or seven). Since then, I have read other books that I enjoyed but nothing compares to reading a Harry Potter book for me. :)
Now here’s my video for the week!!! It’s under 4 minutes! :P
(I said “irrational fears” not “RATIONAL fears” – that would be silly, lol)
I really think I can fit more than four minute’s worth into a video because I talk so fast. Yes!
Til next week (or sooner!)
LOVES!

PS: I SO want to talk about my feelings on your blog topic, Brittany, but I’ve gone through this thought process too many times and I’m actually at peace with myself right now, haha. Maybe when I’m in a ranty mood…

Another week gone by… This next week we should have everyone back together!!!!! Hooray!
I expect both Brittany and Katie to do all the challenges assigned to them while they were gone… bwahaha!
Katie, your challenge for me is complete. I read Twilight. And I really liked it. I bought New Moon. I plan to buy the others. With gift cards. Short sentences are dramatic. They also show my feeling for being enamored with this book. I will, however, resist the temptation to add any Twilight flair on facebook… I have one, but only because it was connected to Harry Potter (Jacob Black = Remus Lupin + Sirius Black’s love child) HA! Yesterday I watched the trailer for the movie and I don’t like how it’s inaccurate already, haha. However, Bella, Alice and Edward are almost like I pictured them. I must admit that I had seen a picture of Edward from the movie before reading the book but it wasn’t an intentional connection. Bella is the same, I suppose, but her nose is a bit different than I imagined. Superficial thinking, sorries, lol. However, I saw the actress for Alice and thought, “that MUST be Alice!” I imagined her a little smaller, with black, sleeker hair but her face is pretty spot on my imagination. I feel that the book was engaging and that’s why I liked it so much. And it’s a romance book. I was mislead by my imagination before I started reading and thought it was action with a little romance. I now see that it’s romance with a little action. But oh! The action! I was nearly hyperventilating at times, honest! Now I’ve started New Moon and it’s a little slow going for a couple reasons: time and sleep for me and angst in the book. Ohhhh the angst. That’s all for Twilight. Thanks for the challenge – it gave me an excuse to read this popular book I had complained about… Just like Harry Potter… ugh.
I’d like to thank our best commenters, Cheap Auto Insurance, Car Insurance, and Buy Select Drugs. They never fail to provide an awesome minute when I delete them from our spam counter. But seriously, thanks for reading the blogs, Emily! I agree that we need more readers – anyone want to advertise? I’m too shy and I feel bad about the last time I was on the ning (lol) so if anyone else wants to take it upon themselves to go forth and spread the word, please do. I almost feel like we it would be easier to make a viral video of something else and then put a link to the project in the side bar or something. I don’t really want the irritating people that come with that, though. ”u r so lame!” or the more common, ”these #$%^& suck!!11!1! this is @#$%^ u $%^&U $%^&* #$%^ like $% %^&* $%#(^$ nerds!!1!1!!!1 lolz” I don’t want it… So, no viral video for us! :D
Last night was my church’s choir party. We made a couple dishes for it such as party/cheesy potatoes (whichever your region calls them, lol), cheesecake brownies (I think) and a green bean casserole (which I avoided, of course). There’s always singing and, luckily, they don’t beg me to sing something for them when I go now. I sort of don’t like going because it’s a bunch of people that ask me questions about school and all we do is eat and drink (nothing alcoholic for me yet, lol) and sit around in the heat. Not very fun. So I read New Moon most of the night… Here’s a clip from last year.
This afternoon I am seeing the ballet “Sleeping Beauty” and I am pretty excited for the music and the costumes and the dancing, of course! My mom got me free tickets because she works at a dance wear company that supplies for this dance studio, I suppose. I got three free (previously $35, I think) tickets and my friend Elisabeth, her boyfriend, Drew, and I are going together. I will see if I can get video of it for Thursday. Probably illegal but I will find a way (or a good alternative
)
Tomorrow I am going to a Cardinals game!!! I will definitely take pictures and video for Thursday. I’m also going to my dad’s singing competition where I am being forced to use my mac for recording purposes (and more space). Otherwise I would use my camera (which only has 26 minutes worth of video).
I really need to get on the ball with planning my trip to Chicago. I’m still hoping that I can ask my grandma for a loan so I can buy a new flute. I might do better to just ask for a loan for China (which paying for scares me greatly). It’s going to be an expensive year, I imagine.
Oh, my childhood pictures! Here are a few that I scanned. Slide was very convenient for this!
This new thing I found for the site is REALLY NEAT! Check out this page and look at the map of people! It has almost all of our locations! That is so neat! Mine is a little inaccurate because it says I’m from Florissant, MO (which is 45 minutes away) but oh well.
Challenge for the week: Show me a blast from your past (like Pokemon Cards, dolls, etc…)
LOVES!
